This KILLER sexy black dress dates from the1940s, and it just drips with that FILM NOIR style!! Picture this one with long black gloves and a cigarette!
The dress is unlabeled as to maker, and is made of weighty black rayon crepe. The bodice is made of a delicate black lace layered over a nude-toned nylon tricot. It features the extended cap shoulders of the 1940s (no pads) --so this could actually date to the mid-1940s (though the nylon of the bodice makes me thing New Look/late 40s) and a square neckline in the front. The black pebble crepe skirt is ankle length (depending on your height) and is seamed to a slightly fitted "cummberbund" waist inset. Below this, the skirt has a series of draped loops and a draped waterfall extension on the left side. There is a metal zipper up the left side.
Condition: clean and very wearable. Issues: There is a 1" "L"-shaped tear below the knee level on the back left of the skirt. It has been mended--difficult to spot sue to the crepe weave and the black color. Does not at all affec wear. Unlabeled, it measures like a contemporary 4-6 with the proper generous bodice drape of the late 40's. It measures:
Bust:36"
Waist: 29"
Hips: 41"
Length from shoulder to hem:57"
Length from waist to hem:40"
