Antique Nautical Brass Steamship Oil Funnel Apparatus by UncleJimmysAttic

This came from Uncle Jimmy's antique shop, the Red Swan in Massachusetts. The tag on the funnel called it a steamship oil apparatus. The holder is solid brass and the funnel is steel. It looks like it was mounted on the side of a piece of a steam engine to add oil as needed.

The funnel most likely was from one of the many steamships that sailed from New York to Boston for the Metropolitan Steamship Company. The comany was one of the chief transportation links between New York City and Boston, Massachusetts for 75 years.

Measures 10 3/4" long and the funnel opening is 4 inches wide.

I think it could make a terrific wall sconce when wired for an Edison bulb or mount it to a wall and it could hold a mini speaker for a sound system. Truly a "steam" punk item!
