A vintage Japanese Showa Era (1926-1989) Kimono 100% silk kimono and obi. The kimono is painted with a small, intricate floral and butterfly design in shades of tan and brown, reds and greens, blues and grays, and gold paint. The kimono is traditionally designed with long, white sleeves, open at the front, with a long wide sash. It was purchased mid century during a time when the owner lived Japan for an extended period.
The kimono shows little wear and is in very good to vintage condition, commensurate with age and wear. There is some slight yellowing around the neck on the interior. Please see last photo which shows two small spots on the front, and some small spots on the interior silk lining (exterior/interior of same side).
This kimono was brought back to the United States by someone who used to live in Japan and moved to the US decades ago.
The kimono measures approximately 24" seam to seam. The sleeve length is 18 1/2 inches and the total length is 58".
