Oh-so-fun and oh-so-collectible, this is a genuine Enid Collins wooden box top-handle handbag from the desirable "For the Birds" series. It dates to the 1970's, after Enid Collins sold her business to the Tandy Leather Corporation. It features brass hardware, a leather fastener, and a handle of brass and plastic. The outside of the purse has typical wear and could use a cleaning (which I'll leave to the buyer); the inside of the purse is pristine, with an intact/unscratched mirror. Box measures 8" x 6" x 3 1/4".
Most of the "jewels" are original and/or true period replacements from purse-decorating kits dating to the 60's. I replaced two that were missing with new faux jewels. Please note that some of the jewels are beginning to discolor from age, which you can see if you examine photo 10 closely. Some of the brass fittings are showing tarnish as well. The back of the purse has some small, faint dabs of white paint marring it, and a few "dings" in the finish. (See photo 9 for detail.)
Many of these purses sell for well over $200; because of the minor flaws I am offering this for far less. Your questions are welcome!
